Privacy Policy

Effective October 18, 2026

Lamp is a Bible app for iPhone. This policy explains what happens to information when you use the Lamp app and this website, readlamp.app. Lamp is operated by Webaroo LLC.

The short version

What stays on your phone

Your saved verses, highlights, notes, streak, reading and plan progress, reminder time and settings are stored only on your iPhone. They are not sent to us or to anyone else, and they are deleted when you delete the app. Like other app data, they can be included in your iPhone's own backups, which Apple manages for you.

Searching the Bible works offline on your phone. Reminders are scheduled on your phone, so Lamp does not use a notification server.

AI study answers

The “Explain it simply” and “Deep study” answers are written by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. The first time you open one, Lamp asks your permission. If you allow it, the app sends Lamp's server a request that contains only the verse reference, the study mode and the translation, for example John 3:16, simple, BSB. It contains no name, account, device identifier or advertising identifier.

Lamp's server then sends Anthropic the text of that verse, the verses around it and its original Hebrew or Greek words, all of it public Scripture data, and Anthropic processes it to write the answer. The request comes from our server, not from your phone, so Anthropic receives nothing about you.

Each answer is cached by our server and its content delivery network, and on your phone, so the same verse does not need to be asked again. A cached answer is the same for everyone who asks about that verse.

You can turn AI explanations off at any time in Settings, under Study. Original words and cross references work on your phone without it.

Purchases

Lamp Premium is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the purchase and your payment details, and we never see them. The app asks Apple, on your phone, whether your subscription is active. We do not receive your Apple Account, your name or your receipts. Apple's own privacy policy covers what Apple collects.

Server logs

Lamp's server and this website run on Vercel. Like any web server, Vercel keeps standard technical logs of each request, such as the IP address, the time, the address requested (for a study request, that includes the verse reference, mode and translation) and the app or browser version. These logs are kept for a short time to run and secure the service. We do not use them to identify you, profile you or track you, and we do not combine them with any other data.

This website

readlamp.app uses no cookies, no analytics and no ads. Its fonts are served from this site.

Children

Lamp is made for all ages. Because Lamp collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children.

Your choices

We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to look up, correct or delete. To remove your reading data, delete the app. To stop study requests, turn AI explanations off in Settings. For any question or request, email support@webaroo.us.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
